Key Features of the Rheem RTGH-95DVLN-2

There's a lot to like about the Rheem RTGH-95. Let's take a look at a few of the key features that make this unit such a solid performer.

  •

Hot-Start Programming - This is another exclusive feature that minimized the "cold water sandwich" which sometimes occurs during periods of frequent on/off operation.

Performance

The RTGH-95 is a solid performer. With a UEF (Uniform Energy Factor) rating of 0.93, nearly all of the fuel it burns goes into the heating of water. It's the largest tankless water heater of the series and is capable of delivering a maximum 9.5 gpm (gallons per minute) of piping hot water.

With a maximun gas input of 199,900 BTU, this heater is capable of servicing up to 4 bathrooms at the same time. And if you want even faster hot water, the RTGH-95 comes recirculation pump kit ready. By adding this feature you could save up to 12,000 gallons of water every year!

Hot Start Programming allows you to keep your tankless heater in a ready-fire state when you have back-to-back hot water demands. And if you want to access your tankless from a mobile app, the RTGH-95 is EcoNet Enabled!

Condensing Technology

Since the RTGH-95DVLN-2 uses condensing technology to vent it's exhaust, you'll take advantage of reduced installation expenses and high efficiency ratings.

Condensing tankless water heaters extract the heat from the exhaust which helps them achieve high efficiency ratings. They're also easier and less expensive to install since condensation is not released within the venting, and therefore, don't require the expensive stainless steel venting materials required for non-condensing models.

How a Rheem Tankless Water Heater Works

Rheem's Warranty

When installed for residential use Rheem backs the RTGH-95DVLN-2 with an impressive 12-year heat exchanger warranty, 5-years for parts, and 1-year labor.

The warranty is not transferrable and the unit must remain in the orginal installation location. Rheem strongly recommends that the unit is "installed by a contractor that is licensed, state qualified and trained on Rheem's tankless products."

Rheem RTGH-95 Value

The RTGH-95 is capable of delivering large quantities of hot water in an incredibly efficient manner. If properly maintained, it should last 20+ years, which means that the energy savings can easily offset the initial cost.

Because this model uses condensing technology, there isn't a need to install expensive venting materials. As a general rule, condensing tankless water heaters are more expensive to purchase, but less expensive the install. Where non-condensing units are the opposite, less expensive to purchase and more expensive to install.

We highly suggest purchasing condensing tankless heaters, in the long run they're almost always less expensive over the life of the unit.

Overall, the Rheem RTGH-95 provides excellent value for large homes with high hot water needs. If necessary, you can link several units together using Rheem's EZ-Link Cable if your household hot water needs are very demanding.

Although the Rheem RTGH-95DVLN-2 doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Rinnai's heaters, it also doesn't have as high of a price tag. If you're looking for high water flow and excellent energy efficiency from a natural gas tankless, this unit delivers and should be on your shortlist!
